My original onsite fanclub report from www.sports-india.com :
It is really hard to say anything about the strength of Sania and Liezel in this match. Definitely, they were much better than Neha and Angela. Haynes in special did not seem competetive in doubles to me, but Neha, who gave a good fight, was sometimes also overwhelmed by the strength of her opponents.
Let's tell you a bit about the story of the match. Angela Haynes lost her first serve after a thrilling first game, but surprisingly, Liezel also struggling with her serve and giving the US-American team a break point which they converted. The score was 1-1 now, but the next four games including Neha's and Angela's next serve, went straight to Sania and Liezel. Neha managed to save her serve which looked to be a deserved bonus for a good fight of her team, but even more surprisingly, Neha and Angela had double break point against Sania's serve afterward. Neha finished it off by a beautiful backhand return hitter. Nevertheless, you have positively to point out that it is unclear at which level Liezel and Sania were playing - and at later times in the match. They looked quite relaxed and though they came under slight pressure now, as Angela held her serve after trailing 15:40, they just controlled the game and did what is needed to win it. Final score: 6-4.
Easy sum-up for second set: Neha and Angela played worse, but had less luck as well in that one. For example, they managed to deuce Liezel Huber's serve in the fourth game, but the South African girl managed to serve it by an incredible backhand stroke down the line being worth to be added to any "Best of doubles tennis" videos - Sania just dropped her racket and applaused for that! Finally, the second set was a bagel score.
Hard to tell, how good Sania and Liezel really are, but their performance was really very pleasing.
